Summer 2019 Hat/Scarf Making Events at College of San Mateo Library

I meant to post this earlier and got side tracked.  We are having several hat, scarf, shawl, lap blanket, etc. making events during the next month.

Join us on June 26th, June 27th, July 10th and July 11th from 10am - 2pm and on July 23rd and July 24th 2pm - 5pm.  We meet in the Makerspace area of the College of San Mateo Library.

We have patterns, yarn and hooks/needles that you can use, or you can bring your own supplies.

If you want to help us out, but do not know how to knit or crochet, please join us anyway.  We have knitting looms that we can teach you to use fairly quickly.

If you want to make hats at home on your own to donate and just drop them off, there are bins located n the College of San Mateo Library and the San Mateo Athletic Club at College of San Mateo.  You can also contact me at kingc@smccd.edu and we can arrange a pickup date and time.

Another way to help out is through donations of supplies: yarn, knitting needles, crochet hooks, etc.  Contact me at the above email and we can make arrangements.

Thanks.

Keeping San Mateo County Warm - Spring 2019

We are continuing to make hats and scarves for donation to various agencies in San Mateo County.  We have now added shawls, lap blankets and fingerless gloves into the mix of things to make.

We'd love to have you come join us on any of the dates listed and help us make items to donate.

We are a group of knitters and crocheters that meet in the Library at the College of San Mateo.

If you would like to donate supplies to the project, we are happy to accept acrylic yarn, knitting needles, crochet hooks, pattern books, etc.  Donations can be dropped off at the College of San Mateo Library with a notation of Yarn Arts or Cassandra King.  Leave me a message in the comments if you would like to donate, but cannot make it to the college to drop off.  If you are local to San Mateo, I will gladly make arrangements to pick items up.

If you would like to participate, but cannot make it to the dates mentioned on the flier, you can drop off hats at the reception desk in the San Mateo Athletic Club at College of San Mateo or the College of San Mateo Library.  If you are local I will gladly pick items up from you.

We are close to 1,000 hats and scarves made and donated since July 2018.

Are You Bored Making Hats and Scarves?

If you are, we have a couple contacts that are willing to accept many other items besides hats and scarves.  We can now make shawls, fingerless gloves and lap blankets.  These items will be going to a couple of our local cancer treatment centers.

I will be adding a couple other posts with links to patterns for the above mentioned items.

I am still working on contacting other places regarding donations to see if there is anything else we can make.

If you have any suggestions on places where we could possibly donate, please leave a comment on this post and I will look into it.
